Influence of technical progress on our life

What is a usual start of our day? We wake up when the alarm clock rings, turn on the electric kettle, coffee maker or juice extractor. We cook or warm over a breakfast in the microwave, iron clothes, make our hair with a hair drier or use electric razor. Further we plan the day, schedule the meeting by mobile phone, turn on the computer to check the mail. Then we leave the house and go on business, and got stuck in a traffic jam, receiving the next portion of stress. We use the underground, trams, trolley buses and even planes and trains to get to the necessary place. And we are happy that technical progress gives us more assistants, capable to save our time and energy when solving household questions.

However we do not consider often that such convenient inventions of the last century are simultaneously the sources of the electromagnetic radiation, which is very harmful for human body. They take the most precious thing we have - our health.

Scientists proved that the most dangerous radiation for human health is in the following of two ranges:

  • From 30 to 300 Hz (ultra-low frequencies) - they are dangerous for separate functional organs;
  • From 0.3 up to 30 GHz (ultrahigh frequencies) - for the majority of body elements, blood and its components. This range of frequencies represents the greatest danger as in this case even 1 quantum of energy can do a lot of harm to a living tissue of a person.

Scientists also proved that a safe limit of intensity of electromagnetic fields for one’s health is 0.2 microtesla

Do you know that all household appliances we use with great pleasure, radiate on ultrahigh frequencies?

What is their intensity?

  • Personal computers
    (intensity of radiation - from 1 up to 100 microtesla):
    • Children should use the personal computer in the first grade for 10 minutes a day, and at 10-11 grades for 30 minutes in the first half of a day and 20 minutes in the second one;
    • Women should work with PC no more than 6 hours a day with 15 minute breaks every hour;
    • It is prohibited for pregnant women and nursing mothers, and also children under 18, to work as PC operator.
  • Microwave ovens
    (intensity of radiation - 8 microtesla):
    • It is recommended to stand at least 1.5 meters away from the working device;
    • It is recommended to use the ovens with a smaller power capacity.
  • Mobile phones
    (intensity of radiation - 40 microtesla)
    • It is recommended to limit the duration of one conversation to 3 minutes, increase the period between conversations as much as possible (at least 15 minutes)
    • Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation recommends to forbid the use of mobile phones to children under 12 and pregnant women.
  • Electric devices
    (intensity of radiation from 0.2 up to several hundred microtesla):
    • Usage of home appliances of smaller power capacity is recommended;
    • It is not recommended to use refrigerators with "no frost" system, some types of warm floors and alarm systems;
    • Significant restriction of usage time for all household devices is recommended.
